Samadhisound is pleased to announce Hypergraphia: The Writings of David Sylvian 1980–2014, a comprehensive collection of his lyrics and poetry (many published for the first time), covering the thirty-five years of his career to date, framed by three interviews and accompanied by an exquisite collection of artwork curated or made by Sylvian. Art directed by Sylvian and designed by Chris Bigg. An immaculate and thorough retrospective, Hypergraphia’s organic structure and its juxtapositions of past and present, formal and personal, save the book from treating Sylvian’s career as a bust on a pedestal: instead, we see it as what it is – an extraordinary work in progress.

638 pages, hard back, full colour. Page size – 150mm x 225mm portrait.
Regular edition: £65.00.

Signedition: £85.00 (the signed edition has sold out).

Hypergraphia is published in a limited edition of 3,000 copies. An edition of 500 signed and individually numbered copies, by Sylvian and designer Chris Bigg, has already sold out. Randomly included in the remaining 2,500 copies are 50 signed unnumbered copies. Available from 2nd November 2015, on pre-sale now.   Darkest Dreaming

*****************************************************

Stay tonight
We'll watch the full moon rising
Hold on tight
The sky is breaking
I don't ever wanna be alone
With all my darkest dreaming
Hold me close
The sky is breaking
I don't ever wanna be alone
With all my darkest dreaming
Hold me close
The sky is breaking

hear your voice
Way down inside
A whispering sea
Of towering trees
But no reply

A silence so rare
And more than I can stand
Sweeps like a flood
Through life's flesh and blood
And steals away with it's heart

If I'm losing you
Then there's nothing more that I can say
The fighting is on
And battles are won
Or thrown away

But if I could live
Safe and sound
In God given fields
Or mountains of steel
Then here I'd stay
Till you'd gone

Guilty of stealing
Every thought I own
I will take my turn
To fight the bullfight
Every word's sunk in deep
Like the blades of a knife through my heart
But my strength will return
To fight the bullfight

As time's come to show
I'm told nothing more than I should know
A ship on the sea that threatens to leave
But never goes
This island of blue
Where life clings to your hands
Like water and sand
Will lose it's way
When you're gone

When all's forgiven
Still every fault's my own
I will take my turn
To fight the bullfight
Say a prayer for my release
When every hope in the world is asleep
And my strength will return

Before The Bullfight

I hear your voice
Way down inside
A whispering sea
Of towering trees
But no reply

A silence so rare
And more than I can stand
Sweeps like a flood
Through life's flesh and blood
And steals away with its heart

Guilty of stealing
Every thought I own
I will take my turn
To fight the bullfight
Every word's sunk in deep
Like the blades of a knife through my heart
But my strength will return
To fight the bullfight

As time's come to show
I'm told nothing more than I should know
A ship on the sea that threatens to leave
But never goes

This island of blue
Where life clings to your hands
Like water and sand
Will loose its way
When you're gone

When all's forgiven
Still every fault's my own
I will take my turn
To fight the bullfight
Say a prayer for my release
When every hope in the world is asleep
And my strength will return
To fight the bullfight
